“How can you eat so much and stay so skinny? How much do you weigh? What’s your dress size? You get skinnier every day, where do you put all that food?”
I get those questions every day. I would either respond with a smile or change the subject, because I myself, don’t know how to answer that.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve been called a “skinny bitch”. It’s a compliment, I was told. I don’t get offended at all. I think it’s funny, but it makes me feel really uncomfortable whenever my weight is the topic of conversation. Sadly, it occurs almost everyday, and somehow it slightly affects me psychologically.
I’m under the impression that being skinny is weird, and that I am not normal. I’ve been struggling to accept my stick figure that I wear loose-fitting clothes every day to hide my body. When I’m at the beach, I wear oversized tankini bathing suits.
But you know what? The world has bigger problems than my SKINNY “bEATching”. Deep down inside, I, too, enjoy the ability to eat whatever I want and not gain weight. I love how my friends, families, coworkers and even strangers genuinely enjoy feeding me and making me food. I love the “sweets” surprises from my coworkers. I love how they think of me when they see something chocolaty or decadent.
What can I say? I simply love to eat! I guess, I’M VERY LUCKY!
I’m Ron, a proud member of AARP. I’m 5’3 in height, weigh 100 lbs. (45 kls.) and wear size 00 or 0, XXS or XS. I eat whatever I want. I eat cake, ice cream and Cheetos for breakfast. I’m addicted to chocolates. I love, love, love buffets and mac n’ cheese too. I don’t go to the gym. I don’t know how to cook but love a good meal which resorts to eating-out and lots of take-out.
So yeah… how in the world do I stay skinny?
As I mentioned above, I don’t have the answer. However, I would love to share with you my DAILY HABITS:
1. SHAKE IT OFF!
I hula hoop while watching TV
OFFICE CHAIR EXERCISE, with my legs stretched, I slowly swivel my chair left and right for at least 3 minutes/hour.
TALK TO THE HANDS, My hands are very theatrical (LOL!), but I’m afraid I would accidentally smack the person I’m talking to in the head.
COUCH POTATO, I can’t sit still, so I do some leg exercises while watching TV.
LOL, I laugh out loud a lot. It’s my favorite work-out. I strongly believe that It engages my abs and helps burn calories too.
2. EATING HABITS
I drink water, black coffee (no sugar), green tea and jasmine tea. I DON’T drink soda and juice. I DON’T drink anything that has artificial ingredients in it.
When I eat desserts with frosting, I scrape off most of the frosting, and just leave a thin coating for sweetness.
I use extra virgin oil for my toast instead of butter or margarine.
I eat at least 3 types of fruits every day, like bananas, green apples and whatever is in season.
At home, I eat standing up and don’t sit right away after eating. I wait for at least 15 minutes before I go couch potato.
When eating out, most of the time I request for “no added salt” or sometimes no salt all. I like spicy food too.
When I go grocery shopping, I buy dark chocolates and unsalted tortilla chips and nuts for snacks. Confession, I only eat junk food when I’m in the office or out somewhere.
3. HEALTH CHECK:
I take vitamin B12, Calcium and Omega 3 daily.
I visit my primary care doctor, OB-GYN, dentist and hygienist regularly.
There you go! Happy eating!
Please don’t forget to consult with your physician before performing any of the above activities.
